Six Month Challenge: End of Week Five

27 December 2020 – 02 January 2021

01 January 2021

This week has completely flown by!! Sunday and Monday I just worked out and was watching Mike’s dog, but Tuesday I headed down to Tucson to assist on a gold gilding job. It was so much fun. It literally lights my soul up when I get to do that and hopefully one day I will get to do it full time! Wednesday, I worked on this site.  Thursday I did two CrossFit workouts, hung out with Vina to exchange Christmas presents, and then went to dinner at Roka Akor with the Fit Fam. We ended up going back to Rhonda’s house and having a dance party in the New Year. It was a lot of fun and I couldn’t have had a better way to ring in the new year during this pandemic.

Today, I slept in and when all my Fit Fam were hungover in bed or on the couch, I headed out to North Mountain for a short 1.5-mile hike. I definitely didn’t remember the incline and it took me 30 minutes to get up the mountain. I realized I really need to incorporate hiking inclines into my workouts in the week. I could even do it on the treadmill or find a stair stepper.

Tomorrow I’m headed back to Tucson to finish the gold gilding job I was assisting on Tuesday. I’m so excited to get to just do what I love and hang out with one of my best friends.

Okay so here are the deets from the week:

Food

Food has been okay this week. I have planned my food but I derailed Tuesday when I had to travel for a job down in Tucson. I had a McD’s Sausage Egg McMuffin (no cheese), for lunch, I had a Chicken Pesto Sandwich (no cheese) and a side salad, and for dinner, we had Tandoori Chicken with Rice.

Breakfast
  • 4 eggs
  • 2 egg whites
  • 4oz Steak
  • Medium Pink Grapefruit
Lunch
  • 3 oz Flank Steak with onions
  • Apple
  • 100g Cottage Cheese
Dinner
  • 100g Korean Beef
  • 2 Street Taco Tortillas
  • Cilantro
  • 1/2 Avocado
  • Sour Cream/Siracha Sauce
  • Red Cabbage Slaw

I’m concerned the avocado I’m eating is throwing off my weight loss. I’m going to not make anything gourmet for a while and just stick to my simple meats, veggies, and simple fruits (grapefruits and apples) so I can get my weight loss going back again. I was supposed to lose four pounds getting me from 243 to 239 this week, but the scale didn’t move. This obviously made me nervous. The thoughts of oh shit I’m plateauing definitely flowed through my head. Also, I was like oh shit, is this is? Is this only how far I’m going to be able to go…?! But I calmed myself down and relooked at what I was eating, and the only thing I changed was trying out recipes that included things I haven’t had in my diet. So we are going to cut them out and see what happens.

Workouts

I worked out Monday, but not Tuesday or Wednesday. I didn’t workout Wednesday because one of my friends who I was dog sitting for texted this morning saying one of his friends tested positive. So I had to wait for him to get tested to make sure he came back negative. Thursday I did the two workouts which felt really good, and today I did the hike. Tomorrow, I’m going to the gym before I head down to Tucson.

Weight

Actual weight this week was: 241.2

Goal Weight to hit this week: 239

This week’s weigh-in killed me. I had hit my weight loss goal every week for the last four weeks and to miss it by two pounds this week is heart-wrenching. I guess for me to not emotionally prepare to hit another plateau wasn’t realistic… but I was just wanting to keep my head down and work it all off. I am so ready for this weight to be off of me so I can live my life. I know all my problems won’t go away, but I just don’t want to be the fattest person in the room anymore. I want to go to Disney World with my friends and not worry about if I’m going to fit on the rides. I want to go to a clothing store and be able to try on the same clothes my friends are. I want to ride a horse, go skydiving, go ziplining, and all kinds of other things you can’t do when you’re fat.
