A quick Podcast Introduction
Hi everyone and welcome to my journey. I started Weigh Ankor back in 2013 with the hopes of getting healthy and I had a few good attempts but ultimately failed in documenting what and how I wanted to do it. Now in 2019, I really want to realign that dream with a bucket list item I hope to cross off the list in January of 2020.
I want to make this content easy for you to consume, I hope that by the end of this section of training I can motivate someone to take that next step they’ve been wanting to take but don’t know where to start. I will be providing a podcast, a vlog, and a blog, so whether you want to listen, watch, or read you can do any of the above.
What to Expect in the Podcast
Over the next season, I will be documenting everything I’m doing to train for the Run Disney Walt Disney World Dopey Challenge. If you’re curious as to what that is, it’s a four-day race covering 48.6 miles. Day one is a 5k, day two is a 10k, day three is a half marathon, and day four is a full marathon.
For me, 2020 is a redemption run of sorts. I tried to run it in 2018 but after the second day of running I fell ill to the nasty flu season the U.S. was having and I could get out of bed for three days. I was really defeated because I paid a lot of money to run that race. But there were a lot of things I did wrong which I will cover in a podcast in the coming weeks.
A Food Podcast
I will also be covering my food. You will see everything I eat or hear about it depending on how you are consuming this content. I will hold nothing back. You will see my success stories, my failures, and my glorious cheat days. You will notice some specific things about my nutrition because of some specific things I deal with. I am the 1 in 10 women that have PCOS, I am allergic to yeast (It’s a mild allergy, but it does some weird shit to my body when I eat it.), and I am an emotional eater. Those three things together make for a wonderful time in the kitchen. Get ready for a lot of animal proteins, veggies, and some strange things to make those taste good.
I also want to cover nutrition during the races. This is something I’m quite intimidated about because I know the half will take me 3.5-4.0 hours and the full marathon I’m anticipating will take me the full 7.0 hours. What is this goo everyone is talking about?
A Training Equipment Podcast
As a big girl, there are a lot of things that can limit us from getting started on our journey. This podcast will cover the things needed and maybe wondered about. This might include something as simple as getting fitted for shoes to something a bit more taboo like anti-chafing sticks. I get it, there are things I’m embarrassed about, there are things I don’t even know about, and there are things I know I’m going to have to deal with that I can’t really talk to any of my skinny friends about because they just don’t get it. It’s not their fault, but they will never understand what a 300 pound, 5’4 female has to deal with on a daily basis.
I’m not sure how this will happen, but I would love to include some hacks as well. As of right now, I don’t know what those are, but I will figure that out as I run into things along the training journey.
A Well Rounded Podcast
My hope for this podcast is to just be able to track my progress and keep myself on track for the next few months and complete this insane challenge for myself. I don’t know if I can do it but I’m going to try like hell. I know the person I want to be and I know she’s in there, she’s just got some physical and emotional baggage to let go of and work through to get to the end goal. Kind of intimidating, but totally doable. Here’s to a great season! Cheers!
